falls apart will be included on a soundtrack for the upcoming montreal independent film "That's Life" by Efrat Friedman. they've chosen everyone's favourite drunken love song "songs about you" from the distance between us as the song they'll use for the movie. it probably won't be a true representation of the song - that is, swerving home, drunk on a bike from the bar on a tuesday, howling out of tune at the moon - but i guess we'll have to trust in the director's own vision. they don't have a website yet, but if you're interested to hear the other montreal artists that will be on the soundtrack, they've set up a radio station thingy on mp3.com you can visit here.

the long-awaited Out of Sound Records compilation has been released, featuring many a respected canadian indie band, and some who are yet to receive any respect, but should. among those featured are yours truly, falls apart, which we consider quite a compliment, considering some of the other names involved. the compilation, titled "Snowsuit on and Heading North" features other great artists such as elevator, orange glass, kitchens and bathrooms, jim guthrie, by divine right, weights and measures and many others (or 9 to be exact). check out the Out of Sound website to get yourself a copy.

we have some mp3's from the distance between us on our MP3.com site, which you can visit here. if you hear something you like, we know a place you could find more (read: in a dusty box under darryl's bed). just let us know. we're planning to put more songs from the album up there (when we get around to it) so check back.

as for the family tree that now represents falls apart, things keep growing:

in montreal, graeme and his songwriting cohort dan noble, now officially known as the low falls, (or until the next name change at least) have completed recording a 12-song album they've been working on through the winter and spring. they're now trying to figure out how to get the songs out of graeme's digital recorder and on to a more share-friendly medium, without resorting to smashing the damn thing open. you'll hear it when we figure it out. it will hopefully be mixed and mastered by a big-wig contact we have at Metalworks studio in Toronto, but that's all up in the air right now. keep your fingers crossed with us.

meanwhile, at the stevenson farm outside guelph, darryl and his cohorts in The Tucoma Hellfarm Tragedy seem to have their collective shit a little more together. the fellows not only have an amazing 5-song e.p. that's getting airplay on guelph radio stations, but they are playing shows too, not the least of which being their upcoming appearance at the Halifax Pop Explosion. we're very proud of the THT and their continuing success and just hope they continue to take us under their arm even when they're big rock/pop/country stars, whatever it may be.

as you can see, this site is now turning into more of a gateway to the other projects that falls apart members have taken part in. for those of you familiar with falls apart, we think you'll enjoy the new music just as much, or possibly even more or less. that's up to you i suppose. if you're new to falls apart, there's still lots here on the site for you to look at, so enjoy.
